Charles J. (Chop) Keenan III

Keenan Land Company

Chop Keenan has been a Bay Area developer since the early 1970’s and his passion for the industry is displayed in the quality of projects and partnerships he brings to Keenan Land Company.  He leads Keenan Land Company with commitment, desire and expertise.

Mr. Keenan started his career as Title Officer for Transamerica Title Insurance Company 1968-1970; and then began his full-time real estate career first as a salesman for Richard C. Price Company, a homebuilder based in Menlo Park.  In 1984 Mr. Keenan and Kyle Morgan purchased the assets of Ponderosa Homes Northern California which included 3,700 residential lots from Aetna Life and Casualty.  The lots were joint-ventured with Ponderosa Homes, and Keenan Land Company continued to grow and expand.

Mr. Keenan, together with Mark Gates, John Lovewell, Jack Bariteau, and Joyce Yamagiwa, have developed A class office projects, R & D buildings, shopping centers, residential lot developments, and hotels over the past 35 years primarily in the Bay Area and some Southern California projects.  He has assembled a “best of breed” portfolio which is rightfully admired by his peers.

Mr. Keenan attended Menlo College.  He is a former member of the United States Marine Corp and serves on the Menlo College Board of Trustees.  He also served on the Stanford Athletic Board.  He is a member of the Palo Alto Parking Commission and a supporter of many charitable causes and events in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and development community.  In 2007, Mr. Keenan received the Tall Tree Award as the business professional of the year by Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce.
